Testnik Probe

A dedicated device that measures network connectivity and service quality from your location, or from any remote one.

The Testnik Probe is a compact appliance that continuously runs a suite of network tests and streams results, alarms and SLA data to the Testnik Cloud dashboard. It measures what your users actually experience, at the point where they experience it.

Light variant

Radio metrics — LTE / 5G RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, band and RAT attached to each test run, so a bad result carries its radio context.
Custom tests Your own Python scripts, sandboxed on the device, versioned and immutable once published.

Extensible: additional test modules can be developed to measure specific business quality indicators — for example video streaming, VoIP or an application API.

Built-in measurements and key metrics

What the device actually measures: availability, responsiveness, web experience, mobile signal and behaviour under load.

Basic connection quality

Speeds: transfer in both directions, latency and latency variation. DNS: resolution time, query success rate and server comparison. TCP: connection setup time to chosen hosts and ports.

Web and application experience

HTTP/HTTPS: DNS, TCP, TLS, time to first byte and total load time. Chromium: real browser experience, HTTP/3 or QUIC, and key web metrics (FCP, LCP, TTFB).

Advanced network analysis

Smaller file transfers: RTT, TCP congestion window and initial transfer ramp-up. Load tests: packet loss, latency variation and retransmissions (bufferbloat). UDP burst: patterns for checking stability under load.

Mobile signal and availability

Radio metrics: RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, band, RAT (LTE / 5G). Connectivity monitor: continuous availability tracking (ICMP + TCP confirmation). Event diagnostics: interface, routing, DNS and system records.

Central test configuration

Each test module has its own configuration page in the portal and its own set of parameters. Configuration is edited centrally and distributed to the devices over the cloud-to-device channel, and the same channel pushes a change to one device, a selected group or the whole organisation at once. Every configuration change is traceable: who, when, and what changed.

Connection availability measurement

Continuous testing over ICMP and TCP confirmation, a downtime timeline with duration, recovery time and event history, latency and its variation over the selected window. Outages open as alarms automatically and resolve when the connection returns, and diagnostic artefacts are available in the portal whenever a device uploads them.

Built for fleets

Probes are grouped into an organisation, filtered by release cohort — stable, canary or alpha — and rolled out in stages. Managed mode makes the cloud the single source of truth for configuration, locking the local interface to read-only.
