Measurement device

The device runs automated tests of network and service quality at the chosen location.

Automated measurements of speed, responsiveness and more, using a range of tools — Speedtest, DNS, HTTP, TCP, Chromium, congestion, radio and connectivity monitoring.

The measurement devices are the foundation of the system; the portal provides the shared picture; analytics, SLA and integrations turn measurements into business value.

Why Testnik rather than the existing approaches?

Continuous measurement where quality is actually experienced — at the user’s location.

Manual and ad-hoc measurement

A snapshot with no history, no trend and no comparison between locations. Dependent on a person — measured whenever somebody remembers, by which time the problem has often already gone.

Existing monitoring systems

They measure network elements and servers, not the actual experience at the user’s location. Degradation in the last mile and inside services stays invisible.

Live

Testnik

Continuous measurement at your locations, with your thresholds and SLA rules. Central device management and measurement review, integration into existing systems, and the option of developing additional modules to your requirements. Developed and supported in Slovenia.

The moving parts

Organisation

The top-level tenant. Members hold Owner, Organisation administrator or Member roles, and every probe, alarm and report belongs to exactly one organisation.

Probe

A physical device with a hostname, firmware version, physical location, live status and a release cohort for staged firmware rollout.

Fleet

Your organisation’s probes in one view, filterable by cohort, showing live status and open alarm counts at a glance.

Managed mode

An optional mode in which the cloud is the single source of truth for a probe’s configuration and the probe’s local interface is read-only.

Scheduling

Tests can share one global interval, or each define its own cadence. Any test can also be dispatched manually — useful while troubleshooting, or to capture evidence at a moment that matters.

Alarms and alerting

Alarms are lifecycle-tracked from active to resolved, with warning, minor, major and critical severities. They are raised automatically on connectivity loss or a threshold breach, or by your own per-probe alarm rules. Alerts are delivered by email, phone call or webhook, each channel scoped to the event types and severities you choose. SMS delivery is coming soon.

SLA tracking

SLA evaluation runs cloud-side on a recurring hourly schedule against configurable SLA profiles. Dashboards show aggregate availability, breach counts and pass/fail history over 1, 7, 30 or 90 day windows, organisation-wide and per probe.

Reporting

Reports are generated on a schedule at organisation level, aggregating all SLA-enabled probes, and at individual probe level. Choose a daily, weekly or monthly cadence, the recipients, and HTML, PDF or both. Everything previously generated stays available for download.

Team management

Organisation owners invite colleagues by email with a role, and manage or remove members as the team changes.

Integration with external platforms

Testnik connects to existing monitoring, IoT and OSS/BSS systems through APIs, and exports measurements, alarms and events.

Data export

Export of measurements, events and alarms to external systems — for example pushing measurements into an IoT platform such as Cumulocity. A vault holds per-device secrets and settings.

Programming interfaces (API)

A REST API for measurements, configuration, SLA profiles, alarms and reports, reachable from the portal and from machine integrations, with an audit trail, user permissions, organisations and personal alerts.

Custom development

Additional test modules for specific business indicators, integration with a customer portal, business APIs or application sign-in, and support for private mobile networks and specialised scenarios.

Testnik is not an isolated measurement device — it is a centrally managed part of your network quality assurance process.
